It is that time of year! To try something new and hold ourselves accountable, while looking awesome. A New Year's resolution should be fun and attainable. Here are some fun things that will help you look awesome and be bold in your wardrobe without breaking the bank. xox, Laura If you are like me your closet is filled with brown, black, white and gray. Finally a few years ago I made the color leap. Pink, Orange and Turquoise are my favorite pops to add. Wear Your Heels More Often After having a broken foot all summer I am beyond ready to get a few inch taller in my heels. I have so many fun pairs in my closet I am ready to start strutting around town in again. (Hint: I always have a pair of my Haviana Flip Flops stashes close by if I need some relief!) Stop Saving Your Clothes For a "Special Occasion" I have so many fun pieces in my closet, but have not been able to wear them all as I originally intended when I bought them. I have decided to mix and match some fancier or festive pieces with my staples, like my AG jeans and studded top. Buy Less Fast Fashion I am a sales junkie. When ever I can find something in clearance or in a sale, I buy, although I may not love. So this year, I will not impulse shop to get a screaming deal. Make your piece matter! Invest in a Little Luxury Is a Louis Vuitton worth it? Well it is in the eye of the beholder and if you can afford it or have saved for it. At least with Mountain Brook Trading you can find some genuine luxury pieces and a fraction of the cost. They are well made and will last you a lifetime. But only you can decide what your luxury is! I believe it is what makes you feel good! Let Your Coat Be the Focus of Your Look I love outer wear. Not sure why, but I really do love it. They are fun and you can wear a really fabulous coat or vest over a plain shirt and jeans and bam, you have a great looking outfit! ?Wear Something That Scares You I am not saying to wear a crazy outfit that needs to be on a dancing girl, but got out of your box. Maybe ask your salesperson to get you a surprise to try on. Chances are she will pick something you never saw or would never try on. You may like it! Finally Master the Art of Mixing Prints and Textures Mixing is for paint. Just kidding! If you attempt this (I find it quite hard to do) start out simple until you are more confident. One print should be smaller than the other to provide a balance. Good luck! Upgrade Your Underwear Toss those old things a freshen up. Also, get remeasured so you can make sure any new bras going forward fit you. After all, your sisters are always changing. I did this a few weeks ago and went from down an inch and up a cup??? After stocking up on my new intimates I literally tossed all my old items. Bye-Bye Felicia! Experiment With Vintage Buys "Vintage" is back. Well I am not sure it ever left. But Mountain Brook Trading has a ton of really cool items that need new loving homes! One item I bought not too long ago was this awesome Brown Suede Jacket. Love it! Plus it goes with everything I wear (almost). Treat Your Clothes With a Little More Care Don't hoard your old stuff. Donate it or make a little money if you sell it on Mountain Brook Trading. If you want to feel better getting dressed then take a few hours one weekend to organize your closet. Yes Organize! I like to organize by colors and type of clothes in my closet. I fold all my cotton t-shirts, work out clothes and pj's, everything else is hung up. Plus be ruthless on what you are going to get rid of. Don't second guess yourself. You got this! Go Back to Basics Occasionally I think I am a hippy at heart. So for me my jeans are a staple and a comfy tunic. My basics are probably not your basics. Some dress up and others down. Just do what makes you look good and feel good. Buy Workout Gear That Actually Makes You Want to Work Out Not going to lie, but when these leggings first became popular, I was completely intimidated. I felt like I was just wearing stocking with a little tank top. Well I have grown to love this little outfit, because I like to be comfortable and this get up is way to comfortable. I wake up and put on my work out clothes, and YES, I do work out most everyday. But I honestly do not own a pair of Lulu's and am quite fond of the Target line. (did I just say that?) Shop Somewhere You've Never Thought of Before
A few years ago I was an Anne Taylor, Banana Republic die hard. But since then I have discovered so many wonderful little boutiques in Mountain Brook, Homewood and Cahaba Heights that have such fun and unique finds. The Pants Store for my shoes, Soca for my jeans, Stella Blu for my tops and Serendipity for sweaters. Get brave and go in these places for some stellar finds. #shoplocal See Original post http://www.popsugar.com/fashion/Fashion-Resolutions-2016-39789654
